Welcome to My Sourdough Obsession!

Hey there, I’m Olivia Baker—yep, last name Baker (fitting, right?). If you told me a few years ago I’d be the kind of person who gets excited about dough fermentation and starter bubbles, I would’ve laughed. But now? I’m that person who checks my starter like it’s a pet, talks about crumb structure at totally inappropriate moments, and cannot resist the smell of freshly baked bread.

My sourdough journey started like so many others—one part curiosity, one part quarantine boredom, and a whole lot of why is my dough so sticky? My first loaf? A disaster. Flat, dense, and about as edible as a brick. But something about the process pulled me back in. The science, the art, the magic of flour, water, and time. It hooked me.

Now, I bake sourdough almost daily. It’s my therapy, my creative outlet, and honestly, the best way to make my kitchen smell amazing 24/7. But here’s the thing—I know baking sourdough can seem intimidating. The long fermentation times, the fancy-sounding terms, the fear of failure (been there!). That’s why I started this blog—to break it all down, keep it simple, and prove that anyone can bake incredible sourdough, no matter how busy life gets.

Speaking of busy, I totally get it. Between work, family, and trying (and failing) to keep my houseplants alive, I don’t always have time to knead and babysit dough. That’s why I focus on real-life sourdough baking—tips, tricks, and recipes that actually fit into your schedule. You don’t need a fancy oven, expensive tools, or a 48-hour process to make great bread. You just need a little patience, a sense of humor (because, trust me, things will get messy), and maybe a cup of coffee while you wait for that dough to rise.

On this blog, you’ll find step-by-step guides, beginner-friendly recipes, and plenty of bread geekery to keep things fun. Whether you’re here to bake your very first loaf or you’re deep in the wild yeast rabbit hole, I’m so glad you’re here.

At the end of the day, sourdough isn’t just about baking—it’s about slowing down, embracing the process, and finding joy in the simple things. It’s about the satisfaction of pulling a golden, crackling loaf from the oven and knowing you made it from just flour, water, and patience. So whether you’re here for the perfect crust, the softest crumb, or just an excuse to play with dough, welcome to the journey. Let’s make magic—one loaf at a time.

Happy baking,
Olivia 🍞✨
