1. In a bowl, combine cubed chicken with plain yogurt, lemon juice, 1 tsp garam masala, ground cumin, and salt; marinate for at least 15 minutes.
2. Heat 1 tbsp butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat; add marinated chicken, sauté until browned; remove and set aside.
3. In the same skillet, melt remaining butter; add chopped onion, garlic, and ginger; cook until softened.
4. Stir in turmeric, ground coriander, chili powder or paprika, and remaining garam masala; toast spices for 1 minute.
5. Pour in tomato puree; simmer for 10 minutes until sauce thickens.
6. Return chicken to skillet; cover and cook 15 minutes on medium-low until chicken is cooked through.
7. Stir in heavy cream or Greek yogurt; simmer 2 minutes until sauce is creamy.
8. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with basmati rice or naan.
