  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 16 bread bones 1x

Description

Buttery, garlicky bread bones shaped from quick pizza dough and served with warm marinara—perfect spooky appetizers for potluck Halloween dishes that kids and adults devour.

Ingredients

Scale

1 lb refrigerated pizza dough (or breadstick dough)

2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

2 cloves garlic, minced (or 1 tsp garlic powder)

1/2 cup shredded mozzarella (optional)

2 tbsp grated Parmesan

1/2 tsp kosher salt

1 tsp Italian seasoning or dried parsley

1 cup warm marinara sauce, for dipping

Flour, for dusting

Olive oil, for brushing (vegan option)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment.

2. Lightly flour the counter. Roll dough into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick.

3. Cut dough into 1 x 6 inch strips.

4. Snip a 1 inch slit at each end of a strip and curl the corners outward to form bone knobs; repeat.

5. Arrange bones on the baking sheet with space between. Lightly brush with olive oil if desired.

6. Sprinkle with mozzarella and a pinch of Parmesan if using.

7. Bake 12–15 minutes, until puffed and lightly golden.

8. Stir melted butter, garlic, salt, and Italian seasoning together.

9. Brush hot bones with garlic butter and finish with remaining Parmesan.

10. Serve warm with marinara for dipping. Reheat 5 minutes at 350°F if needed.
