1. Warm milk to 100°F and proof yeast with 1 tsp sugar until bubbly
2. Combine yeast mixture, remaining sugar, eggs, butter, salt and half the flour and mix until a sticky dough forms
3. Gradually add remaining flour and knead until smooth and elastic
4. Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover and rise until doubled, about 1 to 1½ hours
5. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon and toast pecans
6. Roll dough into a 10×14 inch rectangle, brush with melted butter and sprinkle filling evenly
7. Roll tightly into a log, seal seam, slice lengthwise and twist the halves together
8. Place twisted loaf in a greased 9×5 inch pan, cover and rise for 30–45 minutes
9. Preheat oven to 350°F and bake for 35–40 minutes until golden and cooked through
10. (Optional) Brush hot loaf with sugar syrup for shine
11. Cool in pan 10 minutes, transfer to a rack and slice when fully cooled
