Description
Spooky, cheesy bread bones made with pizza dough and string cheese—quick to shape, golden to bake, and perfect with marinara dip.
Ingredients
1 lb refrigerated pizza dough (or crescent roll sheet)
6 mozzarella sticks (string cheese), halved
2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 tsp kosher salt
1/8 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
1 cup warm marinara sauce, for dipping
Parchment paper or cooking spray
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C); line a large baking sheet with parchment or spray.
2. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to about 1/4 inch thick.
3. Cut dough into 12 strips, each about 2 x 6 inches.
4. Place half a mozzarella stick along each strip; fold dough over and pinch seams to seal.
5. Snip a 1/2-inch slit on both short ends of each piece and fan the corners to form bone ends.
6. Arrange seam-side down on the sheet, spacing slightly.
7. Mix melted butter, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes; brush over bones, then sprinkle Parmesan and salt.
8. Bake 12–15 minutes until puffed and golden; rotate pan halfway if needed.
9. Cool 3–5 minutes; serve warm with marinara for dipping.
