Description
Spooky breadstick bones stuffed with gooey mozzarella, brushed with garlic-herb butter, and served with marinara “blood” for a crowd-pleasing Halloween appetizer.
Ingredients
1 lb refrigerated pizza dough
8 mozzarella string cheese sticks, halved
3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp Italian seasoning
2 tbsp grated Parmesan (optional)
1 cup marinara sauce, warmed
Fine sea salt, to taste
All-purpose flour, for dusting
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line 2 sheet pans with parchment.
2. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to a 10×14-inch rectangle.
3. Cut dough into 16 strips, about 1 inch wide and 4–5 inches long.
4. Place half a string cheese on each strip; fold dough over and pinch seams to seal.
5. Snip a 1-inch slit at each short end; curl flaps outward to form bone tips.
6. Arrange bones seam-side down on pans, spacing 1 inch apart.
7. Mix melted butter, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning; brush over bones.
8. Bake 12–15 minutes until puffed and golden.
9. Sprinkle with Parmesan and a pinch of salt; bake 1–2 minutes more.
10. Cool 3 minutes; serve warm with marinara for dipping.
