Description
Juicy cheeseburger filling baked inside skull-shaped buns for a spooky, kid-approved Halloween dinner.
Ingredients
1 lb pizza or bread dough
1 lb ground beef (80/20)
1/2 cup finely diced onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
3 tbsp ketchup or burger sauce
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp kosher salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup diced pickles (optional)
2 tbsp diced jalapeños (optional)
1 egg beaten with 1 tbsp water (egg wash)
Neutral oil or nonstick spray for the mold
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place a silicone skull mold on a baking sheet and lightly grease the cavities.
2. Brown beef in a skillet over medium-high heat, 5–6 minutes. Stir in onion and garlic; cook 2–3 minutes until softened.
3. Season with salt, pepper, Worcestershire, ketchup, and paprika. Remove from heat and cool 5 minutes.
4. Stir in cheddar (and optional pickles/jalapeños) until evenly combined.
5. Divide dough into 6 pieces; roll each into a 5–6 inch round.
6. Press one dough round into each mold cavity, letting edges hang over the rim.
7. Spoon 2–3 tbsp filling into each cavity. Fold dough over and pinch to seal well.
8. Brush tops with egg wash and poke a tiny vent with a knife to release steam.
9. Bake 20–25 minutes until golden and dough is cooked through.
10. Rest 5 minutes, unmold carefully, and serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces.
