Description
A festive pull-apart star bread made with sourdough discard, swirled with cinnamon sugar and baked to golden perfection. Perfect for holiday mornings or brunch gatherings.

Instructions
1. Feed your sourdough starter or use unfed discard.
2. Combine starter, warm milk, sugar, egg, and melted butter in a bowl.
3. Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
4. Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and ferment for 3–5 hours until doubled.
6. Divide dough into four pieces and roll each into a 10-inch circle.
7. Layer circles on parchment paper, spreading cinnamon sugar between first three layers and sealing edges.
8. Mark center and cut 16 strips from edge to center, then twist adjacent strips twice and pinch ends to form an eight-pointed star.
9. Cover shaped star and proof for 30–45 minutes until puffy.
10. Preheat oven to 350°F and brush star with egg wash.
11. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden and fragrant.
12. Cool for 10–15 minutes, dust with powdered sugar, slice, and serve warm.
