  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 23 tablespoons tomato sauce or olive oil (for topping)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • desired pizza toppings

  • Instructions

    1. In a bowl, stir together sourdough discard, flour, baking powder, salt and garlic powder.

    2. Add olive oil and water gradually, mixing until a soft, slightly tacky dough forms.

    3. Knead dough on a floured surface for 1–2 minutes until smooth.

    4. Let dough rest 5 minutes while heating a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.

    5. Divide dough into two pieces and roll each into a thin round on a floured surface.

    6. Brush skillet with oil and cook one dough round for 1–2 minutes until bubbles form.

    7. Flip the flatbread and immediately spread sauce or oil on the cooked side.

    8. Top with shredded cheese and desired toppings.
