October Foods Highlight – Spider Burger with Fries

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: Serves 4 (4 spider burgers) 1x

Description

A playful, kid‑friendly Halloween main: juicy cheeseburgers styled as spiders with crispy fry “legs.” Simple ingredients, quick assembly, and perfect for parties or family nights.

Ingredients

Scale

1 lb (450 g) ground beef, 80–85% lean

1 tsp kosher salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp onion powder

1 tbsp neutral oil (for skillet, optional)

4 burger buns

4 slices cheddar cheese

8 lettuce leaves

8 tomato slices

812 pickle slices

16 pitted black olive slices (for eyes)

2 tbsp ketchup, plus more to serve

1 tbsp yellow mustard (optional)

1 lb frozen thick‑cut fries (or 4 cups cooked)

Instructions

1. Heat oven to 425°F (220°C) and bake fries until golden and crisp; keep warm.

2. In a bowl, mix beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder; form 4 patties slightly wider than the buns and dimple centers.

3. Heat a skillet or grill over medium‑high; add oil if needed. Cook patties 3–4 minutes per side to desired doneness.

4. Top each patty with a cheese slice during the last minute; cover briefly to melt.

5. Toast buns cut‑side down on the pan or grill until lightly golden.

6. Make “eyes”: dab two small dots of ketchup on each top bun and press on olive slices.

7. Assemble: bottom bun, lettuce, tomato, pickles, cheesy patty, mustard/ketchup as desired, then the top bun with eyes.

8. Create spider legs by tucking 4 fries into each side of the burger (8 legs total); pile remaining fries on the plate.

9. Serve immediately with extra ketchup and any favorite dips.
