Poisoned Apple Cider Shots

  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 8 shots 1x

Description

Spooky, ruby-hued apple cider shots with vodka, a touch of grenadine, and floating blackberries. Easy, party-ready, and perfect for Halloween.

Ingredients

Scale

1 cup fresh apple cider, chilled

1/2 cup vodka

1/4 cup grenadine or cranberry juice

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (optional)

812 fresh blackberries, for garnish

Ice, for shaking

Black sanding sugar, for rimming (optional)

1 lime wedge or a little apple juice, to wet rims (optional)

Food-grade dry ice, tiny chips (optional; see safety note)

Instructions

1. Chill 8 shot glasses in the freezer for 15–20 minutes.

2. Optional rim: Lightly wet rims with lime wedge or apple juice, then dip in black sanding sugar; set aside.

3. Add apple cider, vodka, grenadine (or cranberry juice), and lemon juice to a cocktail shaker with ice.

4. Shake vigorously until well-chilled, about 15 seconds.

5. Strain into the prepared shot glasses (about 1.5–1.75 oz per glass).

6. Drop 1–2 blackberries into each shot for the ‘poisoned’ effect.

7. Optional dry ice: Using tongs and gloves, add a pea-size chip to each glass; wait until it fully dissipates before drinking.

8. Serve immediately while cold and spooky.
