  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 1 cocktail 1x

Description

A dramatic Halloween cocktail blending apple cider, dark rum or bourbon, grenadine, and blackberries with a black-sugar rim and eerie garnishes. Serve as a single drink, spooky shots, or scale to a party punch.

Ingredients

Scale

4 oz fresh apple cider

1.5 oz dark rum or bourbon

0.5 oz grenadine

0.5 oz fresh lemon juice

4–5 fresh blackberries, plus extra for garnish

Ice cubes

1 cinnamon stick, for garnish

Black sanding sugar, for rimming (optional)

Honey or lemon juice, for rimming

Edible glitter, pinch (optional)

Food-safe dry ice, tiny piece per glass (optional, handle carefully)

Instructions

1. Rim the glass: Brush the rim with honey or lemon juice, then dip into black sanding sugar.

2. Muddle: In a shaker, muddle 4–5 blackberries until juicy.

3. Shake: Add apple cider, rum or bourbon, grenadine, lemon juice, and ice. Shake briskly 10–12 seconds.

4. Strain: Fill a chilled glass with fresh ice and strain the cocktail over it.

5. Garnish: Add a cinnamon stick, a blackberry skewer, and a pinch of edible glitter if using.

6. Optional spooky effect: Carefully add a tiny piece of food-safe dry ice to the glass; wait until fully dissipated before sipping.

7. For spooky shots: Strain into shot glasses without ice; garnish lightly.

8. Party batch: In a pitcher, combine 32 oz cider, 12 oz rum or bourbon, 4 oz grenadine, 4 oz lemon juice, and 1/2 pint muddled blackberries. Stir, chill with ice, and serve with garnishes.
