Close-up of salami mozzarella eyeballs as creepy Halloween appetizers on a festive platter 2

Salami Mozzarella Eyeballs

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: Makes 20 eyeballs 1x

Description

A spooky, no-cook Halloween appetizer made with salami, mini mozzarella, and olive pupils on picks—creepy to look at, delicious to eat, and party-ready in minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

20 thin slices salami

20 mini mozzarella balls (ciliegine)

10 large black or green olives, sliced into rings

20 cocktail picks or toothpicks

2 tbsp olive oil (optional, to gloss and prevent drying)

1/4 cup marinara sauce, for serving (optional spooky drizzle)

Thin strips of red bell pepper or pimento (optional, for extra creepy pupils)

Instructions

1. Lay salami slices on a board; place one mini mozzarella ball in the center of each slice.

2. Slice olives into rings; press one ring on top of each mozzarella ball to form the pupil.

3. For extra effect, tuck a tiny strip of red bell pepper or pimento inside the olive ring.

4. Skewer through the center to secure the olive, mozzarella, and salami into one bite.

5. Lightly brush or drip a little olive oil over the mozzarella to keep it glossy and moist.

6. Arrange on a platter; serve plain or over a thin layer of marinara for a spooky ‘bloody’ look.
