Description

A warm, melty sandwich that pairs crisp autumn apples with sharp cheddar and tangy sourdough for a cozy fall meal. Perfect for lunch, brunch, or a seasonal twist on Thanksgiving sandwiches.

  • 4 slices sourdough bread
  • 12 medium apples (Honeycrisp, Pink Lady, or Fuji)
  • 46 oz sharp cheddar cheese, sliced or shredded
  • 12 tbsp butter or olive oil
  • 1 tsp honey (optional)
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
  • handful baby spinach (optional)
  • thin-sliced red onion (optional)
  • 46 oz smoked turkey or ham (optional)

  • Instructions

    1. Slice apples thinly and pat dry.

    2. Butter or brush one side of each bread slice with butter or olive oil.

    3. On the unbuttered side, layer cheddar, apple slices, honey or mustard if using, and more cheddar.

    4. Top with second slice of bread, buttered side out.

    5. Preheat panini press or grill pan and cook sandwich for 3–5 minutes until bread is golden and cheese is melted, pressing firmly.

    6. Let rest 30 seconds, then slice diagonally and serve.
