Description

  • 4 thick slices cinnamon pecan sourdough bread
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon sugar or maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • pinch of salt

  • Instructions

    1. In a bowl whisk eggs milk vanilla cinnamon nutmeg sugar and salt until frothy

    2. Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a skillet over medium heat

    3. Dip each bread slice into custard for 20 to 30 seconds per side

    4. Place soaked slices in skillet and cook 2 to 3 minutes per side until golden

    5. Sprinkle chopped pecans into the skillet to toast and adhere to the bread

    6. Transfer cooked slices to a warm oven at 200°F on a wire rack

    7. Repeat with remaining butter custard and bread slices

    8. Serve immediately with syrup whipped cream or fruit as desired
