A gourmet twist on classic grilled cheese featuring tangy sourdough, sweet fig jam, and creamy Brie for a fancy lunch or brunch.
Ingredients
Instructions
1. Preheat a cast iron skillet over medium-low heat for 2–3 minutes.
2. Butter one side of each sourdough slice evenly.
3. Spread fig jam on the unbuttered side of two bread slices.
4. Layer brie slices over the jam and season with salt and pepper.
5. Add optional prosciutto or caramelized onions and arugula if desired.
6. Top with remaining bread slices, buttered side up.
7. Place sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 3–4 minutes until golden brown.
8. Press gently with a spatula and if needed cover skillet for 30 seconds to melt cheese.
9. Flip sandwiches and cook for another 3–4 minutes until crisp and cheese is melted.
10. Remove from skillet, let rest one minute, then slice and serve.
