Description
Creamy mashed sweet potatoes sweetened with real maple syrup and warm spices, topped with a buttery pecan crumble for a classic Southern Thanksgiving side.

1. Heat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. Place sweet potatoes in a large pot of salted water; boil until fork-tender, 12–15 minutes. Drain very well.
3. Mash hot potatoes with 4 tbsp butter until smooth.
4. Stir in 1/3 cup maple syrup, 1/4 cup brown sugar, cream, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt; mix until creamy. Adjust sweetness to taste.
5. Spread the sweet potato mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
6. In a bowl, combine pecans, melted butter, 2 tbsp brown sugar, and the remaining 3 tbsp maple syrup; toss to coat.
7. Scatter the pecan mixture evenly over the casserole.
8. Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, until edges bubble and the topping is golden and toasty.
9. Rest 10 minutes before serving. Drizzle a little extra maple syrup if desired.
