Instructions
1. Combine apple cider, cranberry juice, sliced apples, whole cranberries, and orange slices in a large saucepan or slow cooker.
2. Place cinnamon sticks, cloves, and star anise in a cheesecloth or spice bag and add to the pot.
3. Stir in brown sugar or maple syrup to taste.
4. Heat over medium until steaming, then reduce to low and simmer gently for 20-30 minutes.
5. Taste and adjust sweetness, spice intensity, or dilute with water as desired.
6. Remove spice bundle and ladle cider into mugs, garnishing with an orange slice or cinnamon stick.
