Description
Crispy, garlicky breadsticks shaped like witch fingers with almond “nails,” brushed in garlic butter and served with warm marinara for a spooky Halloween party snack.
Ingredients
1 lb (450 g) refrigerated pizza dough
24 sliced almonds (for fingernails)
1 large egg, beaten with 1 tsp water (egg wash)
3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
2 cloves garlic, finely grated
1 tbsp fresh parsley, minced
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 cup marinara sauce, warmed
Pinch red pepper flakes (optional, for sauce)
Flour, for dusting
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line 2 baking sheets with parchment and dust lightly with flour.
2. Unroll the pizza dough and cut into 24 even strips, about 1/2 inch (1.25 cm) wide.
3. Roll each strip into a 5–6 inch rope; taper one end into a point to form the fingertip.
4. Pinch the dough in two spots to make “knuckles,” then lightly score a few shallow lines with a knife for wrinkles.
5. Brush the fingertip with egg wash and press on a sliced almond as the “nail.” Arrange on the sheets, spaced 1 inch apart.
6. Lightly brush the fingers with remaining egg wash; sprinkle with a pinch of salt and pepper.
7. Bake 12–14 minutes, until puffed and golden.
8. Stir together melted butter, garlic, and parsley. Immediately brush over hot breadsticks, then sprinkle with Parmesan.
9. Warm marinara (add red pepper flakes if desired). Serve breadsticks with the “bloody” marinara for dipping.
