  • Total Time: 35 mins
  • Yield: 12 donuts

Description

Baked vanilla cake donuts dipped in glaze and finished with playful candy toppings—perfect as colorful, crowd-pleasing social appetizers for parties and fall treat tables.

Ingredients

All-purpose flour, 2 cups

Granulated sugar, 1/2 cup

Baking powder, 2 tsp

Ground cinnamon, 1/2 tsp

Fine salt, 1/2 tsp

Milk, 3/4 cup

Large eggs, 2

Unsalted butter, melted, 4 tbsp

Vanilla extract, 1 tsp

Powdered sugar, 1 1/2 cups

Milk, 2–3 tbsp (for glaze)

Vanilla extract, 1/2 tsp (for glaze)

Gel food coloring, optional

Assorted sprinkles

Candy corn or jelly apple candies

Mini chocolate chips or candy eyes

Caramel or chocolate sauce, for drizzling

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 12-cavity donut pan.

2. Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl.

3. In another bowl whisk milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.

4. Combine wet with dry just until blended; do not overmix.

5. Spoon or pipe batter into donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.

6. Bake 9–11 minutes until donuts spring back to touch; cool 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack.

7. Make the glaze: whisk powdered sugar, 2 tbsp milk, and 1/2 tsp vanilla until pourable; add a few drops of food coloring if desired (thin with more milk as needed).

8. Dip or drizzle cooled donuts with glaze to create a tacky surface for toppings.

9. Top immediately with sprinkles, candy corn or jelly apple pieces, mini chips or candy eyes; finish with caramel or chocolate drizzle.

10. Let set 10–15 minutes before serving on a festive platter. Shortcut: use plain store-bought donuts and start at the glazing step.
