2. Roll out and fit pie crust into a 9-inch dish; chill 20 minutes.
3. Blind-bake crust at 375°F for 8–10 minutes until set; let cool.
4. In a heatproof bowl over simmering water, melt chocolate with butter until smooth; cool slightly.
5. In a large bowl whisk eggs, sugars, syrup, vanilla, and salt until creamy.
6. Stir melted chocolate mixture into egg mixture until combined.
7. Fold in toasted pecans and pecan pie butter if using.
8. Pour filling into prepared crust and smooth top; arrange pecan halves decoratively.
9. Bake at 350°F for 45–50 minutes until center jiggles slightly.
10. Cool completely on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
