Description

A rich and indulgent Southern classic combining toasted Texas pecans and melted chocolate in a flaky buttery crust, perfect for holidays and gatherings.

  • 1 9-inch butter-based pie crust
  • 1 1/2 cups toasted Texas pecans, roughly chopped
  • 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate, melted
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup corn syrup or maple syrup
  • 3 large eggs, beaten
  • 2 tbsp pecan pie butter (optional)
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 350°F and position rack in center.

    2. Roll out and fit pie crust into a 9-inch dish; chill 20 minutes.

    3. Blind-bake crust at 375°F for 8–10 minutes until set; let cool.

    4. In a heatproof bowl over simmering water, melt chocolate with butter until smooth; cool slightly.

    5. In a large bowl whisk eggs, sugars, syrup, vanilla, and salt until creamy.

    6. Stir melted chocolate mixture into egg mixture until combined.

    7. Fold in toasted pecans and pecan pie butter if using.

    8. Pour filling into prepared crust and smooth top; arrange pecan halves decoratively.

    9. Bake at 350°F for 45–50 minutes until center jiggles slightly.

    10. Cool completely on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
