Description
Crunchy, glossy red velvet–glazed popcorn with a tangy cream cheese note—perfect for spooky vampire-themed Halloween snacking.
Ingredients
10 cups plain popped popcorn (air-popped or stovetop), unseasoned
1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup light corn syrup
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tbsp cream cheese powder (optional, for tang)
Red gel food coloring, to desired intensity
Pinch of fine salt (optional)
Optional decorations: candy fangs, edible glitter, red candy melt drizzle, candy eyes
Instructions
1. Heat oven to 250°F (120°C). Line 2 rimmed sheet pans with parchment.
2. Spread popped popcorn on pans and pick out unpopped kernels.
3. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in sugar, corn syrup, cocoa, and salt. Bring to a gentle boil; cook 3–4 minutes, stirring.
4. Remove from heat; whisk in cream cheese powder (if using) and enough red gel food coloring for a deep crimson.
5. Immediately pour glaze over popcorn and toss with spatulas to coat evenly.
6. Bake 30–40 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes, until dry and crisp.
7. Cool completely, break into clusters, and add optional decorations.
8. Store airtight at room temperature up to 4 days.
