  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp ground coriander
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

  • Instructions

    1. Heat the Dutch oven over medium heat and add olive oil.

    2. Add diced onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened, then stir in minced garlic and cook until fragrant.

    3. Add ground turkey, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 6–8 minutes until browned.

    4. Stir in tomato paste, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, and ground coriander, toasting spices for about 1 minute.

    5. Pour in diced tomatoes with juices, chicken broth, cubed sweet potatoes, and black beans, then stir to combine.

    6. Bring to a gentle boil, reduce heat to low, cover partially, and simmer for 30–35 minutes until sweet potatoes are fork-tender and the chili thickens.

    7. Taste and adjust seasoning, add cayenne if desired, then stir in fresh lime juice.
