Description

Transform sourdough starter or discard into crispy, savory pretzel stuffing bites perfect for snacks or gatherings in fall.


Ingredients

  • sourdough starter or discard
  • whole wheat flour
  • olive oil
  • egg
  • warm water
  • mixed herbs (thyme sage rosemary)
  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
  • coarse sea salt
  • optional Parmesan cheese

  • Instructions

    1. Combine sourdough starter or discard olive oil egg and warm water in a bowl until smooth

    2. Add whole wheat flour herbs garlic powder and onion powder stir until dough forms

    3. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface for 3 to 4 minutes then cover and rest for 30 to 40 minutes

    4. Roll dough to 1/2 inch thickness cut into 1 inch pieces and place on parchment lined baking sheet

    5. Brush bites with egg wash or olive oil sprinkle with coarse sea salt

    6. Bake at 375°F for 18 to 22 minutes rotating halfway until golden brown

    7. Transfer bites to a cooling rack then cool completely

    8. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days or freeze
